This picture book rendition of the story of Jesus juxtaposes the truths of who he was and what he did with what his story would have been like if he were a fairy tale king. Corbert Gauthier's illustrations also highlight the distinction between make believe fairy tales and the real Christ who lived, worked, died and rose again. This richly-hued and warmly-told tale deserves to be on every Christian child's bookshelf. The ending is better than any fairytale because it points to how we can all live happily ever after.
