The Messy Monkey Tea Party
By Cheri Blevin Deich
Illustrator Christina Genth
Publisher Red Cygnet Press
The Messy Monkey Tea Party offers a riotous look at what would happen if you invited animals to tea. Berserking alligators, bad smelling hippos, and an ostrich too shy to take its head out of the sandbox all stop by for tea. When the monkeys show up, five all wearing one dress, the mayhem caused by the other animals escalates to complete pandemonium. The little girl who started it all by sending an invitation to the zoo sends them all packing and, having cleaned up the mess, concludes there’s a reason you don’t ask animals to tea.
This rowdy story is complemented perfectly by the rambunctious colors and patterns of the illustrations. They tell the story to such an extent that children will be able to “read” the book on their own and tell the story after a parent has read it to them once. |
